Instant Composition is an ongoing creation process. Full of passion, we venture into a composition with an unknown outcome.

INTENSIVE PROJECTS

Our intensive projects offers you new and valuable experiences within improvisation. You refine your physical and mental permeability. You train the intuitive and fast realization of inner or outer impulses as well as use compositional principles to develop and compose dance material. You learn to integrate other dancers within a moment, to use and intensify the symbol of time. At the end of the several weeks long intensive projects, you will be able to try out your new skills in an in-house showing.

INTENSIVE PROJECT Improvisation - Unfortunately the training is CANCELLED!

In this three-week project, led by two experienced improvisation artists, you can expect dynamic and physically demanding training that challenges coordination, stamina and musicality.
On this basis, a strong physicality is awakened, which unleashes a variety of dance expression.
We practise heightened awareness and presence and activate creative impulses. Instead of questioning movements, we experience their effect and open up new associative spaces. Precision, spontaneity and dedication create the ideal basis for improvisation - driven by energy, desire, imagination and passion.
We understand improvisation as both a method and a form. We play with technical tools, such as generating and developing material, relating this to space and time, soloistically and interactively.

PATHS OF IMPROVISATION

As improvisation artists we are challenged on many levels: We need to find and shape movement material, compose and dance. We also need a feeling for the dramaturgical line. We pay attention to the dance material itself as well as to the execution and the overall design. We make decisions from moment to moment and find ourselves in an ongoing creation process.

In the process we encounter questions like: When should I become active, when should I give space? How do I cultivate playfulness and curiosity? How can I build connections without getting stuck? How can I direct myself without applying pressure? How can I allow failure without becoming arbitrary? How can I follow and help shape the emerging composition without anticipating its pathway or outcome?

If you are an advanced Instant Composer or have completed a dance training or other movement training, you are welcome to participate.
