PATHS OF IMPROVISATION
As improvisation artists we are challenged on many levels: We need to find and shape movement material, compose and dance. We also need a feeling for the dramaturgical line. We pay attention to the dance material itself as well as to the execution and the overall design. We make decisions from moment to moment and find ourselves in an ongoing creation process.
In the process we encounter questions like: When should I become active, when should I give space? How do I cultivate playfulness and curiosity? How can I build connections without getting stuck? How can I direct myself without applying pressure? How can I allow failure without becoming arbitrary? How can I follow and help shape the emerging composition without anticipating its pathway or outcome?
If you are an advanced Instant Composer or have completed a dance training or other movement training, you are welcome to participate.
