Self-creation is at the heart of contemporary choreographic work.

short-term-programme CHOREOGRAPHY & PERFORMANCE

DO YOU WANT TO STAY ON THE CUTTING EDGE AND DEVELOP YOUR CHOREOGRAPHIC SKILLS?

In our continued education program, it is about the creation of your own choreographic work.
With creative methods we train the skill to discover interesting movement material and develop it further. We use techniques from both spontaneous as well as guided improvisation. Then through the parameters of space, time and constellations, the material is refined. Through this you gain a special sensitivity for composition. We will develop tools for choreographic work, put them into practice and deepen our understanding of them.
As dancers with a completed dance training, you are warmly invited to dedicate yourself to your own creation work and choreographic development through this program.

"basic" (2 weeks)

A guest choreographer will teach you their special method of developing a piece through a transparent creation process (researching movement, finding material, building a piece).
Additional content is daily technique and performance training. The project concludes with a public showing.

"extended" (4 weeks)

In addition to the basic program, there will be an introduction to dance dramaturgy and the application process. In the last two weeks you will develop a short piece together with the other participants and the help of experienced coaches. This will be shown on stage with an audience at the end of the program. The result will be documented (film/photo) and can be used for further applications.

CHOREOGRAPHy & PERFORMANCE "basic"  2023

WITH NATALIA GABRIELCZYK

Our guest choreographer Natalia Gabrielczyk teaches you her special working method of piece development (movement research, finding material, piece construction) in a transparent creation process. Natalia will share her experience built through the companies and choreographers she worked with, as well as her own artistic vision.
The focus of the project is on the use of individual physical abilities and the development of imagination. This style of story telling draws on your creativity, physically building images using movement and creative tasks.
Further content includes daily technical and performance training.
The project ends with a public show.

MORE INFO

Natalia’s focus lays in exploration of the boundaries of our imagination in connection to our physical body. During the creation, as well as during the warm up, we will be looking into playing with multitudes: multitudes of rhythms, qualities, images energies and dynamics. Our primal interest to move from and towards will be our senses. We will dive into sensations and imagery, trying to discover worlds and environments where there is no distinction between the body and its relational representation, where the reality and imagination mold into one. We will look at the moving body in a holistic way using different tools to let go, find freedom, and playfulness. It will be a journey to find out our raw sense and honesty in a performative scenario. We will try to reach our highest capacity, the deepest connections, and limitless possibilities. We will look at the improvisation as a total connection of our body and our imagination, also as a main tool to create material.

Within the creation process, we will create worlds and we will break them. We will contemplate and research on how one can make images with the body so they could tell a stories. We will create stories that will emerge from our bodies. The process is entirely experimental and based on multitude of creative tasks that transform us into limitless, hypersensitive moving creatures.
